Creating a Stir Using DJ Drops

In simple layman's terms a DJ drop is when you drop a track into a mix and create awesome energy out of your mix. Generally, the crowds loves it. Dropping the new sound unexpectedly can create quite a positive stir and get everyone to dance as it makes for an amazingly beautiful sound.

DJ drops can also create a nice atmosphere when the voice overs such as hooah, get down, yeah people, get on the floor, etc. are used. Do take care not to use it too much as you will start annoying the crowd.

How Do You Drop a Track?

It is not the same as DJ mixing, so it is not to be confused with that. This is how you do it. If you are not very good at mixing, you could still use dropping. What exactly do we mean by dropping? Even though the track you are dropping is not perfectly beat matched, you still need to make sure that there is some form of continuity.

How you do it, is to make sure that you have similar BPMs (beats per minute) on the previous track and the track that you are dropping in. In effect the DJ hit pause, then play and queue to drop in the next track that gets to compliment the previous song without anyone really noticing anything, except that it is now a new song that sounds similar to the previous one. But a lot more upbeat to give the party a real boost.

The timing of the DJ drop gotta be perfect. By staying in tune and feeling the rhythm, the DJ playing the song will get to know when to drop in the next song that will blend in perfectly and actually sound good.
